The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (SCVTA, or VTA for short) is the main transit service provider for the City of San Jose, Silicon Valley, and the rest of the South Bay. VTA's 82 bus lines connect with multiple transit agencies, including BART, CalTrain, ACE and Capitol Corridor. With such a huge service area, VTA's routes serve countless destinations across the South Bay, including the heart of Silicon Valley, Mountain View, San Jose-Mineta International Airport, Downtown San Jose, Great America, and many others. Of course, VTA has several projects planned, plus the introduction of the Bay Area's first bus rapid transit route, from Alum Rock to Santa Clara, in 2017. More routes are planned to be opened in the near future.
